My Reason Why!

Saturday 14th Feb
My great aunt Julie has been the only person in my life to really be a grandparent to me the last 13 years as I lost all my grandparents while I was really young. Julie cared for my family and I and was always there with open arms. She enjoyed telling me all her crazy life stories from her many trips to Africa or Europe! If she wasn't at her home reading a book she was at church volunteering or on a cruise going somewhere around the world most likely going to watch the Opera! Julie started declining mentally and moved closer to a senior living closer to my family. This meant I got to spend more time with her and create a closer bond. I am able to simply stop by and get lunch with her or take her to get her nails and hair done or shop or even just sit in her room spending quality time with her and listening to all the stories she would share about herself and my grandpa her brother! Julie started declining faster and this lead to her forgetting who I was at some points or forgetting I was even coming over to see her. Julie would get lost walking to her room or forget where she even was. This has tremendously broken my heart and has been so hard to watch someone I love so much not remember things that are so simple to us and we take for granted. When I got the opportunity to run for Alzheimers I knew I couldn't pass this. I want to run for Julie but for also the other people who have to struggle with this horrible disease. Thank you for not only supporting me but supporting Julie and everyone else!
