Come and join my event!
Grace and I are once again committed to combining our love for travel, adventure and exercise into purpose. We are raising funds for critical support and research for those navigating the maze of Alzheimer’s and all dementia. The Longest Day has now evolved to Do What You Love to End Alz. An appropriate new name for the same call to action.
We are passionate about promoting brain health and putting an end to Alzheimer’s and all dementia. We have entered a new era of treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia. For the first time, we now have two FDA approved treatments that can change the trajectory of the disease if detected early.
Research shows that staying active, eating nutritiously, learning new things, exploring new places and socializing are positive tactics to maintaining brain health. Our Do What You Love to End Alz event focuses on the joy of traveling that encompasses each of these strategies.
In April, we will be venturing to Africa to experience its culture, people, food and wildlife. Our goal is to see and photograph the Big Five – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhinoceros, and Cape Buffalo.
In June, we will travel to Italy for a pilgrimage along the Saint Francis Way. We will begin our 60-mile trek in Assisi, the home of Saint Francis, who is the patron saint of animals and the poor, and conclude in the town of Spoleto. Our journey will take us on rolling hill climbs and through quiet, pastoral landscapes.
You will be able to follow our preparation for each journey and actual trips on Facebook. We will share information about each of the Big Five we see in Africa and our experiences along the Saint Francis Way. Our goal is to raise $7,000+ to aid research, care and support. We hope you will join us on our adventures as we do what we love to end Alzheimer’s.
We are grateful to Simple Eats (http://simpleonshore.com) for once again sponsoring our efforts to end Alzheimer's. On Friday, June 26th, Simple Eats will donate 10% of their proceeds between 10:00am and 8:00pm in support of our event. Mark your calendar to get a bite to eat.
Together we can keep the momentum going. Together we can demonstrate to those facing Alzheimer’s and all dementia that they are not alone. Together we can make a difference.
