Songs & Stories - A New Event from Jason Turek
Saturday 4th AprHi everyone,
My name is Jason Turek, and I’m honored to be raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of my dad, Andy.
My dad was diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s disease at just 59 years old. To me—and to so many others—he has always been the strongest, most steady presence in our lives. He was the kind of person who could fix anything, who taught life lessons with patience and humility, and who was always there when we needed him most. He wasn’t just my father—he was my role model, my teacher, and my foundation.
We first began to notice changes in early 2016. Small things at first—trouble with everyday tasks like mowing the lawn or playing his favorite card games. By early 2017, we had a diagnosis. Since then, our lives have been forever changed.
But through it all, I’ve tried to turn something incredibly painful into something meaningful.
As a singer and DJ, I’ve seen firsthand the powerful connection between music and memory. Even now, in the later stages of his disease, when so much has faded, music still reaches him. He may not always remember my name—but when he hears the beat drop in “Footloose” or the bass line from “Come Together,” something lights up inside him. In those moments, we’re still connected. And it’s nothing short of magical.
For the past five years, I’ve hosted an event called Sing to Remember in his honor. This year, I’m taking it a step further.
I’m excited to introduce a new experience: Songs and Stories—a night dedicated to music, memories, and the power of connection.
Here’s what the evening will look like:
4:00 PM – Doors Open
Arrive, grab a cocktail, find your seat, and settle in for a beautiful and meaningful evening.
5:00 PM – Songs & Stories Begin
Enjoy a live concert featuring some of my favorite stories about my dad, paired with the songs that shaped those moments. The evening will also include special guest speakers and performers, along with an incredible band led by the unbelievably talented Marc Cote.
6:15 PM – Dinner is Served
We’ll share a buffet dinner together, surrounded by great food and even greater company. The menu includes Chicken Milanese, sweet sausage over penne, eggplant parmesan, house salad, roasted red potatoes, mixed vegetables, dinner rolls, and coffee, tea, or soda—all included with your ticket.
Cocktails will be available for purchase, and any additional donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are deeply appreciated as we work to reach our fundraising goal.
7:30 PM – Raffles & Games
Join in the fun and help support the cause—please bring cash for raffle tickets!
8:00 PM – Dancing & Karaoke
We’ll close out the night with music, dancing, and karaoke—celebrating connection, joy, and the memories that bring us together.
If you’re able to attend, support, or simply share this message, it would mean so much to me and my family. Thank you for helping me turn love into action—and for helping us remember.
