About the Event

E.H. (Howard) Cannon opened the doors to Cannon & Company in 1950. He officially opened his one-person accounting office on the third floor of the Nissen Building in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. His wife Julia was his secretary. She suggested adding the “company” to the small two-person office because it “wasn’t the size of the company, but the company that you keep,” and thus began one of the longest-standing companies still in operation— a successful business based on that simple and pure idea.
