Jenna's Story...

Friday 2nd Oct

My mom passed away on March 12, 2025. The truth is, she left us years earlier.

She was born in Falmouth, Cornwall, a beautiful beach town in Southern England, so it's not a huge surprise that her favorite getaway while we were growing up was the Oregon coast. She could spend hours, rain (usually) or shine (occasionally), combing the sand and looking for "that one rock or shell" she would add to her collection. It was her happy place, which is why I love this picture of us.

Watching Mom slowly fade away from dementia was as helpless as I've ever felt, and I know I fell short in many ways. But now I can help raise awareness and funds that will go directly toward research, care, and caregiver support!

Please consider joining us for Hike and Sip, and pledge to take steps to end Alzheimer's!

Proud to be Vice Chair of the Alzheimer's Association Board

Friday 25th Sep

Alzheimer’s has a way of touching an entire family.

For me, it was my grandma. Watching someone you love live with dementia changes you. But over the years, I’ve realized my passion for supporting the Alzheimer’s Association goes far beyond my own family’s story.

I support this organization because of the caregivers - the spouses, children, family members and friends who quietly give so much of themselves every single day. They need support, resources and the reminder that they don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

I support it because of education. The more we understand about Alzheimer’s and other dementias, the better we can recognize the signs, have important conversations and help families find resources sooner.

And I support it because of research. This is where I get really excited about what is happening! We now have a simple blood test that can help doctors diagnose Alzheimer’s, and we have treatments that can actually slow the progression of the disease for some people in its early stages.

That is HUGE.

Think about how far we’ve come - and what could be possible next.

Research is giving families something incredibly powerful: more answers, more options and, most importantly, more hope.

Being involved with the Alzheimer’s Association of Oregon & SW Washington is personal for me - but it’s also about the families I may never meet.

It’s about supporting the caregiver who is exhausted.

Giving a family answers when they don’t know where to turn.

And helping fund the research that could change the story for future generations.

I do it for my grandma. 💜
I do it for today’s families.
And I do it because I believe in a future where we can finally #EndALZ.

Kimberly's Story.... Meet Her Mom

Friday 25th Sep
This is my Mom Sandra.
She died of Alzheimer's 3 years ago November 1.
This picture was taken just shortly after my siblings and I made the painful decision to "move" her out to the Pacific Northwest from her little town in Wisconsin after we realized just how far along she was with Alzheimer's. "Move" because she agreed to a visit. But we knew, it would be where she was be so that we could care for her until the end.
One of the most painful and most beautiful times of my life was during the 15 months I got to spend with her leading up to her passing.
Witnessing her decline from this horrible disease was devastating. Every day I had to do everything in my power to be present and love on her and care for her as she always did me when I was a child.
During this time, I learned so much about the disease and also so much about what to do to prevent it.
After seeing what happens, I don't want any human, nor caregiver to experience Alzheimer's. Even though I know that 1 and 3 elderly people do experience Alzheimer's.
So I am fundraising to End Alzheimer's in honor of Mom.
Because I know that the Alzheimer's Association is funding so much research to end Alzheimer's and prevent it, they also do a lot of educational efforts, and provide support for caregivers.
I want to Do What I Love this Day - HIKE (& SIP!) to LIVE and HONOR my Mom with my actions and life.
And I invite you to join us!!!!
P.S. Losing my Mom has changed me. It's taken me almost three years to find out how to live, truly LIVE again without her, and this event for me is brings together so many things that bring me ALIVE....hiking and being in nature, bringing women together, and supporting local businesses! 🥰👭🥰
