How I became involved with the Alzheimer's Association

Tuesday 9th Sep

Thirteen years ago my family's world was altered when we learned the news that my Mom, (affectionately called "Beeba" by her 10 grandchildren) was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and then a few years later with Alzheimer's Disease. It was a challenging time for our family as we learned to adjust to constant changes and navigate life with my mom as her cognitive decline progressed. Sadly, my mom passed away in October of 2022. Beeba was a kind, strong, brave, caring and loving woman, tackling this cruel disease with grace and a positive spirit. She had a heart of gold! Her friends and family surrounded her with encouragement, motivation support and so much love. I miss her every day, and will continue to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s in her memory.

I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Do What You Love (DWYL) event. I am doing this in memory of my Mom and the more than 5 million Americans who have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's with me!

With hope for a cure,

Tanya Miller
