Help me reach my goal for Washburn Challenge!
This June, I will be participating in the Washburn Challenge in Falmouth on Cape Cod. The challenge includes a 22‑mile bike ride along the Shining Sea Bike Path, followed by a 7‑mile kayak out to Washburn Island and back. I’m taking this on to help raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, supporting care, advocacy, and research.
I am riding and paddling in honor of my sister, JoAnne, who we lost to early‑onset Alzheimer’s in 2019, and my father‑in‑law, who is currently living with this devastating disease. Alzheimer’s is heartbreaking, and almost everyone knows someone whose life has been deeply affected by it.
I’m proud to be part of a team called The Granby Dudes, who are committed to raising $25,000 this year to help the Washburn Challenge surpass the $280,000 raised last year. My teammates—Bill Stewart, Scott Forler, Sam Paul, and Curt Christensen—have each been personally impacted by Alzheimer’s, and together we are determined to help fight it.
The Alzheimer’s Association is a critical lifeline for more than 7 million Americans living with the disease and the 13 million family members and friends who provide their care. It is also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. In just the past few years, we’ve seen meaningful progress, including the first disease‑modifying treatments and the first blood test to aid in diagnosis. While this progress brings hope, the fight is far from over—and support is needed now more than ever.
