48 Peaks

Please support me in finding a cure for Alzheimer's

This summer, I'm honoring my Mom, Mother-in-law Susan, and all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias by participating in 48 Peaks, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Alzheimer’s is near and dear to my heart, and I appreciate you taking the time to donate.

I will be hiking to the summit of at least four of New Hampshire’s 4,000ft. peaks in the White Mountains with the Mountain Zen Girls.   Please make a donation and help our team reach our goal of $30,000 towards research and prevention of this devastating disease.

In the last three years, we have made monumental progress in the world of treatment against Alzheimer’s, including the first disease-modifying treatments. But, the fight is far from over. Today, over 50 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including over 7 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 11 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia, providing over $350 billion worth of unpaid care.  We must take action now, as these numbers continue to rise.

Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone.

Mount Washington!

On 8/15, four of us set out at 6:30 in the morning to conquer Mount Washington.  We took the Ravine Trail up and Lions Head down.  What a day!  Sun shining brilliantly, perfect temperature, and no wind.  We met so many lovely people as we made our way to the summit and as we got closer we heard cheers that we imagined were for us so it helped us to scramble to the top.  The sun was shining and there were no clouds so we could see for miles!  Once we reached the summit, we were amazed by the bikers who road their bikes up the mountain.  We joined in the applause and were more than impressed by their accomplishment.

The trek down Lions Head was definitely more of a challenge than the hike up, but we made it down the mountain and felt exhilarated by the day despite our tired calves and feet.

I carried my Mom, Susan and the hearts of so many other people who are  battling this disease.    I am grateful to be able to make this journey on their behalf.

Whiteface Mountain

What a wonderful day hiking Whiteface Mountain!  It was a perfect summer day with sunshine, moderate heat, and beautiful views.  Unlike most hikes in the Granite State, most of the trail was soft underfoot.

As we neared the top, the rock scramble began which felt more like rock climbing.  Joanne and I persevered and made it to the summit.  It was a challenge but we did it!

Was thinking of my Mom and how she's had to navigate such a difficult and emotional journey.  People can do hard things, and that is what carries me up the mountain.

Mount Osceola

Hiked Mount Osceola with my friend Kathleen a few weeks ago - 4300 feet.  Beautiful day with 360 degree views at the top.

Looking forward to more hikes this summer.
