48 Peaks

Help me reach my goal for 48 Peaks!

This summer, I'm honoring all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias by participating in 48 Peaks, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Alzheimer’s is near and dear to my heart, and I appreciate you taking the time to donate.

I will be hiking to the summit of Mt. Jackson, one of New Hampshire’s 4,000ft. peaks in the White Mountains, with my team of friends, The Mountain Zen girls! Please make a donation and help me and, therefore, my team reach our goals.

In the last three years, we have made monumental progress in the world of treatment against Alzheimer’s, including the first disease-modifying treatments. But, the fight is far from over. Today, over 50 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including over 7 million Americans. In the U.S. alone, more than 11 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia, providing over $350 billion worth of unpaid care.  We must take action now, as these numbers continue to rise.

Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease that they are not alone. Please make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!

Mount Washington!!

Thank you everyone for your amazing support in so many ways!  On Saturday, team members Kathleen Macleod and Lisa Hovde and team supporter Alison Forbes and I summited Mount Washington!  We were blessed with a glorious day and had a beautiful hike up the mountain.  (The day before there was a wind advisory with 75 mph winds and fog! 😬)  For us, it was clear and the views were amazing!  The hike down was challenging….basically an unrelenting and steep boulder field.  But we did it!  And for such a good cause.  As we were having lunch at the summit a woman sitting next to me saw our shirts and thanked me.  Her mother suffers from Alz.  It made it worthwhile but I told her I could not have done it without your support.  Although Mt. Washington was the capstone, we are still committed to hike thru the season so check out the page for updates.  And more photos from our Mt. W adventure!

Mt Whiteface!

Team member, Lisa, and I hiked up Mt Whiteface, a NH 4000 footer a few weeks back.  It was a challenge due to steep rock scrambles but we made it!!  That's why we look so happy. 😊 And also because we know all of you are cheering us on to raise money and awareness for this really sad disease.  Thank you again! 💛

Mt Jackson Hike

Today we summited  Mt.Jackson, a 4000 footer in the presidential range of the Whites. It was very steep with boulders and slabs but we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the Southern Presidentials. You can see Mt. Washington in the distance.  And it was a glorious day for hiking.

First Hike!

Great day out yesterday with team member Kathleen Macleod and team supporter, Alison Forbes.  And let's not forget our mascots, Coach and Teddy (taking a break at the summit).

We summited Potash Mountain which began with a water crossing which was icy!!!

Check our more photos in the gallery.

Next outing on June 7th.  We will climb two 4000 footers, Osceola and East Osceola, which includes a class 3 rock scramble!

Thank you for your support!

Updated Schedule and Team

We now have 5 fundraising team members and several other hiking buddies to support the effort.  This team is awesome!   Currently, we have these dates on the calendar for hiking:

May 17th
May 23rd
June 7th
June 27th: Mount Jackson

I will post shortly with the peaks for the first 4 hikes.  More dates will be added including, Mt. Washington, the tallest peak in New England.  It's not just tall but it can be pretty gnarly weather wise so we will have to time it right.

Keep coming back fro updates and pictures!

And thank you, thank you for your support!

You rock! Way to go, ladies!! What an incredible accomplishment for such an important cause. My mother passed with Alzheimer’s, so I know firsthand that this disease affects not only the person we love, but everyone who loves them. Thank you for climbing for those we’ve lost, those still fighting, and the families walking this difficult road beside them. ❤️
